Alder GSE's Library

Alder Graduate School of Education’s Library primarily utilizes a digital approach to providing library and information resources to all graduate students, faculty, and staff. The Library supports the learning, teaching, research, and information needs of the Alder community by providing quality materials and exemplary services that directly support Alder’s institutional mission: To create opportunity and cultivate success for every student by recruiting and educating excellent teachers and leaders who reflect our schools’ communities.

Collection Development Policy

The Alder Library’s collection primarily consists of digital resources: scholarly journal articles, trade publications, periodicals, reports, multimedia content, and e-books relevant to Alder’s academic curriculum. Curriculum materials are collected by request, particularly if they are needed for an Alder class session. Textbooks are generally not collected, as they are expensive and frequently change. Children’s literature is not actively collected, as patrons can generally visit their school library or local public library for these resources. Currently, we are actively working on getting more research databases as well. The Collection Development Policy is currently under review; more information will be posted soon.
