Stacy is the Director of the Alder Teacher Residency Program at San Lorenzo Unified School District and Oakland Unified School District. Prior to this, she worked in Alameda as Secondary Specialist in ELD and Literacy for Alameda Unified School District and as Curriculum Director for the Academy of Alameda. Stacy has spent much of her career serving the families of San Leandro. She was Vice Principal for a 1,000-student middle school, where she also coordinated the Demonstration School–status AVID program. She was recognized as San Leandro’s Teacher of the Year for creating a reading acceleration class in which students produced podcasts and video broadcasts based on topical articles. Stacy began her career teaching 11-year-olds about ancient world civilizations. She was awarded two Fulbright-Hays Summer Seminars, traveling abroad to study the culture and history of China and race and equity in education in Brazil. She earned her BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University and her MA in Language and Literacy from San Francisco State University, where she researched the efficacy of English language development programs for U.S.-born language minority students.
