an Alder Teacher Resident

7:15 am Arrive at school.
8:00 am  Attend all-school morning assembly.
8:15 am  Begin your classroom morning routines.
8:25 am  Read aloud to students while your mentor observes.

8:40 am Co-teach phonics lesson with your mentor.
9:00 am Co-teach reading lesson with your mentor.
9:45 am Lead small group guided reading.
10:20 am Recess
10:40 am Observe your mentor lead Writer’s Workshop and engage in writing conferences with students.

11:40 am Lead additional guided reading groups with your mentor while students do independent reading.
12:00 pm Collaborate with grade-level team and eat lunch.

12:40 pm Observe your mentor leading number talks.
1:00 pm Engage in biweekly check-in with your school’s Education Specialist. Then, you and your mentor have a coaching conversation about the morning’s read-aloud.
1:40 pm Receive real-time coaching from your mentor as you teach a Eureka Math lesson.
2:30 pm Work with four students at math workstations focused on fractions.
3:00 pm Clean up and prepare students to go home.


3:15 pm Engage with as many parents as you can during student dismissal and pick-up.
3:30 pm Attend grade-level team meeting.
4:15 pm Analyze the data from today’s math exit ticket.
4:30 pm Review tomorrow’s lesson plans.
5:00 pm Make positive phone calls to three students’ homes.
5:15 pm Commute home.
6:00 pm Eat dinner, relax with family or friends, and work on graduate coursework online as needed.
